Fully Involved: September 28, 2022

Greetings,

We are excited to be back in person at an annual conference, in Columbus.  We have been monitoring the weather and feel with the eastward shift of Hurricane Ian, we can hold our conference. The Board met today, and agreed to move forward with elections, understanding that some candidates may not be able to make the conference in person, due to storm related duties at home. Also, we fully understand any attendees that cannot attend due to having to manage responsibilities due to Hurricane Ian.

Our Elections Committee met today, with information presented from a candidate for office, who had mistakenly been deemed ineligible to run due to a lapse in membership. That candidate provided information on a renewal being sent, prior to their lapsing date in 2020.  The revised slate of announced candidates is below.

As a reminder, the by-laws state that the voting delegate and alternative delegate must provide a letter from their fire chief designating them as such, and each department gets one vote per ten members, up to ten votes.

The announced candidates are as follows:

President – Gary Clark, Marion McDaniel

1st VP- Mark Ware, Mike Byrd

              2nd VP – Craig Dukes

              3rd VP - Jeff Hardin

Director at Large – Jason Amerson, Otis “Calvin” Hitchcock

Treasurer – Bruce King, Tyshon Reed Sr.

Any still interested running for office, can be nominated from the floor at the first GSFA Business Session of the conference.  Our board looks forward to seeing you in Columbus!

In Service,
