The Georgia Fire Academy sponsors a training weekend in partnership with the National Fire Academy each year at their facility in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The Georgia Fire Academy selects the courses and recruits and enrolls students. The National Fire Academy hosts the weekend and provides the instruction and course materials. Lodging is provided at no cost. Meal costs and transportation are the responsibility of the students or the sponsoring agencies.

FEMA is reviewing agency programs, leading to the cancellation of all in-person National Fire Academy training. Some courses will continue virtually, while others may be rescheduled after the review. Updates will be provided as available.
