Fire Service Leaders,
The Georgia Fire Academy is hosting a Summit on Youth Firesetting at the Training Center in Forsyth on Wednesday, November 7, 2022.
This 8-hour workshop will introduce the subject of youth firesetting to those individuals and professions who may not be aware of its importance. Topics to be discussed include the categories of firesetting, the motivation for firesetting, the importance of recognizing youth firesetting, and the appropriate methods for working with these children and youth, and their families. Additional topics include an overview of the juvenile justice system, and youth firesetting assistance provided from the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office.
This Summit is for all disciplines and we hope that by attending you will improve partnerships within our State's communities between the fire service, law enforcement, mental health providers, social services and juvenile justice to address the issue in a broader fashion.
