GSFA News

Fire Service Leaders,
We recently had members of our North American Training Directors Association (NAFTD) attend the Congressional Fire Service Institute (CFSI) AFG/SAFER Reauthorization Event and National Advisory Council Meeting in DC. They heard repeatedly how the current Congress is facing challenges never seen before. One of the potential impacts is the inability to get the AFG/SAFER programs reauthorized in this session, resulting in both programs sunsetting next year.
Many of us have received AFG and SAFER funds. For over 20 years, the AFG and SAFER programs have served as a vital source of funding for many career, combination, and volunteer departments that continue to do more with less. With these grants, departments can increase staffing, purchase equipment, training, and other departmental needs. These grant programs cannot be allowed to wither away.
Here is the Call to Action:
Click the link below and take five minutes to write about the positive impact AFG/SAFER funds have made in your organization. Share success stories about how AFG, SAFER, and/or the USFA has impacted you as a member of the Fire Service. Let them know why these programs are so important and how they have helped improve fire and life safety in your community.
Take 5 minutes right now and share your story! Protect the funds that the fire service has access to annually.
Do this today to ensure your voice is heard!
