About the Conference

The 2017 Georgia Fire Service Conference returns to the Classic Center in Athens from August 22 – 26, 2017. This annual event features outstanding training opportunities for firefighters and those in leadership positions, a vendor floor where you can see some of the latest in fire service equipment and networking with your peers from across the state.  Check out the latest conference agenda and some of the exciting events that are planned – including one of the annual favorites – the firefighters’ competition on Friday night!

Thursday – Enjoy the Sons of Sailors private conference event! Gather for a fun, casual evening featuring Son of a Sailor, a popular Jimmy Buffet tribute band!  The Graduate Hotel is offering this private event on Thursday night for Georgia Fire Service conference participants – with no cover charge, complimentary food and a reduced rate on drinks.  Learn more about the band here.

Friday – Tour the Athens landmarks with a spouse! Spouses are invited and encouraged to participate in a Friday spouse tour that will include visits to University of Georgia athletic facilities, the State Botanical Gardens, lunch and a taste of art at a historic Athens home and downtown shopping. Pre-registration is required (available through conference registration) and there’s a $15 fee.

2017 Awards Program

Since 1972, GSFA has recognized firefighters through its annual recognition program. Award recipients will be recognized at the 2017 Georgia Fire Service Conference and 2018 Firefighters Recognition Day. All nominations must be received no later than June 30, 2017.

GSFA is now accepting applications for the 2017 round of grants and scholarships provided to Georgia fire departments and GSFA members or their immediate family. The deadline to apply is also June 30, 2017.

Sign a Team Up for the Annual Firefighter’s Competition

Time to get practicing to make sure your team can compete in the annual Friday night Firefighter’s Competition!  This year’s events include the Rapid Dress, the Bucket Brigade, the Barrel Roll, Tight Squeeze One Into Two and of course a Mystery Event. Make plans to participate in this annual conference favorite!

Submit Individuals to Recognize for Memorial Service

Each year, the Georgia Fire Service Conference Memorial Service recognized firefighters who have passed away in the last year.  Firefighters do not have to have been members of one of the associations in order to be remembered during this service.
