Awards Program

The Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) provides recognition opportunities for outstanding firefighters through its award program. Since 1972, GSFA has recognized firefighters through its annual recognition program.

Award Recipients are recognized at the Georgia Fire Service Conference and at the Firefighters Recognition Day ceremonies held at the State Capitol in February.

The 2017 Awards Program is now accepting nominations! The deadline to submit is June 30, 2017. All completed forms can be sent via email to info@gsffa.org or by mail. For the complete overview and how you can submit, please click here.

Rookie of the Year: Isaac Garcia – Warner Robins Fire Department

Firefighter of the Year: Tangela Rowe – Valdosta Fire Department

Training Officer of the Year: Phillip Adams – Sandy Springs Fire Rescue

Educator of the Year: Derrick Adams – Butts County Fire Department

Company Officer of the Year: Gregory Beni – Macon-Bibb County Fire Department

Life Saving Valor Award: Scott Silvers and Peter Quezada – Bartow County Fire Department

Life Saving Valor Award: Tim Pastore and Eli Kesting – Dawson County Emergency Services

 

Grant and Scholarship Program

GSFA is now accepting applications for the 2017 round of grants and scholarships provided to Georgia fire departments and GSFA members or their immediate family. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2017. All completed forms can be sent via email to info@gsffa.org or by mail. Any fire department where at least 50% of personnel are GSFA members are eligible for the grant. For eligibility details of the scholarship, please see the application form.
